United States – On Thursday, Kamala Harris, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, is to accompany the party’s presidential candidate for a rally with former Congresswoman Liz Cheney in Wisconsin, a key state in the Nov. 5 polls.
Cheney’s Opposition to Trump
Dick Cheney and her daughter Cheney are among the most popular Republican personalities to support Harris against Donald trump, as reported by Reuters.
Both have vehemently condemned Trump, the Republican candidate, for not accepting the results of the 2020 presidential elections and his participation in the January 6, 2021, insurrection of the US Capitol.
For Harris to triumph in what survey indicates as a closely contested match against Trump, she has to sell herself to Republican and swing voters who are skeptical about him without losing lovers in key electoral college states such as Wisconsin.
Still, new surveys suggest that Harris fails to attract Republicans’ votes despite hundreds of former and current GOP members, servicemen, employees of national security agencies, mayors, and governors rallying for her.
Harris’s Challenge to Win Over Swing Voters
In a survey carried out between September 20 and September 23 by Reuters/Ipsos, Harris headed Trump among all voters with 47% to Trump’s 40%, but only 5% of the republican respondents said they would vote for Harris in the November election. Only ten percent of the respondents said that they would vote for another candidate, did not know what the voted for, or would not vote.
During the event scheduled for Thursday, Harris will tout Cheney – a rigid conservative, an anti – gay marriage militant, and an admirer of the Supreme Court decision that tore down the right to abortion – for finally learning the difference between the party and the country.
Reiterating her statement at the Democratic Convention, Harris intends to portray Trump as unqualified to be president and declare herself a presidential candidate for all Americans, regardless of party.
Historical Significance of the Rally Location
The Republican Party is of considerable importance in the one-room schoolhouse in Ripon, Wisconsin, where the party was created in 1854. This location is known as the party’s birthplace, as reported by Reuters.
Republican strategist Mary Anna Mancuso stated that Harris was running on “one of the most conservative platforms we’ve seen recently.” Still, she did not believe there was much of a chance that many liberals would reject Harris as a result.
