United Ststes – Former president Barack Obama will seek to sell the candidacy of Kamala Harris on Thursday during a rally in Pittsburgh, focusing on the group of youthful people to turn out in huge numbers and vote for the Democratic nominee in the November 5 polls.
Obama, whose White House term ended in 2017, has since endorsed Harris after Biden decided to step down from acting VP role in July in a bid to prepare for a debate with Trisco, only for him to have a poor show against then Republican President Donald Trump, as reported by Reuters.
Rally Focus and Stakes
Obama is still loved by the base of the Democratic party. The rally at the University of Pittsburgh that he will attend while Harris goes to Nevada is the first of several in such states across the country in the weeks leading up to the election.
Obama will argue that Harris is particularly suited to meet the moment alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, his adviser Eric Schultz said.
“He’ll also talk about the enormous stakes and the risks involved in returning President Trump into office,” Schultz said.
Historical Ties and Continued Support
Per separate TV interviews in August, Obama endorsed Harris during the DNC; Michelle Obama is also believed to continue campaigning actively for Harris.
Besides, Harris was an early endorsement for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Obama has been supporting her in secret as the 2024 Democratic party presidential candidate, and she agreed to work to strengthen this human capital.
A Critical Race
The former president is seen by some as having made a contribution to Biden finally leaving the race after Democrats experienced a drastic increase in concerns about a frail 81-year-old leader following the June showdown with Trump, as reported by Reuters.
Harris and Trump are very tightly contending, and it might all come down to who can nail Pennsylvania to secure the presidential seat.
