United States – North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson (R) will not be present physically when former President Trump mobilizes supporters for him in North Carolina this Saturday.
Trump Rallies Support for Robinson
Trump is to convene a campaign rally in Wilmington, two days after a stunning CNN story detailing some of Robinson’s posts on an adult pornography site between 2008 and 2012 who stated that he supported slavery and referred to himself as a “Black Nazi. ”
Robinson has the support of the former president, and despite controversy surrounding his comments, he has insisted that he will continue to run, as reported by The Hills.
Silence on Robinson’s Comments
Fundamentally, Trump himself has not yet opined on Robinson since the latest story about his categorical past utterances. The former president previously referred to Robinson as Martin Luther King IV, and Robinson was allowed to address the GOP convention in July. Robinson, for instance, went to a Trump rally in North Carolina a month earlier in August.
Robinson’s dismissal came the same day that a Trump campaign spokesperson put out a written statement that did not mention her but said the campaign viewed North Carolina as ‘“a vital part of the Trump campaign’s strategy for reaching the White House. ”
A Key Battleground for Trump
“We are confident that as voters compare the Trump record of a strong economy, low inflation, a secure border, and safe streets with the failures of Biden-Harris, then President Trump will win the Tar Heel State once again. We will not take our eye off the ball,” national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
GOP politicians have already raised questions regarding the potential of Robinson for the elections, citing his propensity towardsness and distasteful comments directed at women and Jewish people.
However, the new allegations place Robinson deeper in the controversy that has already made him behind Stein, the Democratic candidate, and the state’s attorney general, by double digits, as reported by The Hills.
The Stakes of the 2024 Election in North Carolina
North Carolina will also be a swing state that will greatly influence the result of the forthcoming November presidential election. Although Trump won the state by a small margin in the 2020 presidential election, a poll of polls conducted by Decision Desk HQ/The Hill indicates that Vice President Harris is 3 . 6 percentage points.
