United States – A new poll disclosed on Thursday has revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are tied with their contest remaining less than seven weeks to the Nov 5 U. S presidential election with a similar notice in Pennsylvania, as reported by Reuters.
The polls revealed likely and registered voters preferred Democrat Harris during the debate with her Republican opponent but displayed the race as tight in the battleground state, in line with other polls.
National Poll
In a national survey, Harris and Trump were at 47 percent each among the 2,437 likely voters polled September 11 to 16, NYT, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Siena College survey. The sampling error ± three percentage points.
In Pennsylvania, which The Economist described as one of seven ‘must-win’ states, Harris stayed at 4 points ahead with 50% against 46% with ±3.8 percentage points, according to the Times poll.
Other similar research carried out by the Washington Post also revealed that the race between the candidates in the state is close and together with Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, which are believed to be the decisive states in November.
Out of 1,003 likely registered voters in Pennsylvania, 48% said that they would vote for Harris, while 47% said that they would vote for Trump; this difference is within the poll margin of error of plus or minus 3. 6 percentage points.
Motivated Voters and a Divided Nation
When asked, a majority of those who voted said to the Post that they were ‘very motivated’ to vote and that preserving the American democracy was ‘very important.’ Still, voters were pictured differently on who they thought would defend the country’s freedoms more, with 48% putting their hold on Harris while 45% supported Trump.
The cloud of controversy hangs heavy because Harris comes from a background that has been of a former prosecutor and state attorney general while seeking to ensure that the Democrats have a grip at the White House after Biden threw in the towel on his re-election bid in July. Trump, who is facing four criminal cases, continues to lie about his defeat in the 2020 election by Biden as being fraudulent.
Trump has denied all allegations.
Voters Prioritize Democracy, Economy, and Abortion
Also, voters in the NYT/Inquirer/Siena poll ranked U.S. democracy along with the economy, abortion, and immigration as key issues, where preferences for either candidate remained essentially the same, as reported by Reuters.
Reuters/Ipsos polling last week gave Harris a 5-point edge among registered voters, leading Trump 47% to 42%.
